Hod Lipson

Hod Lipson joined the faculties of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering and Computing & Information Science in 2001. Prior to this appointment, he was a postdoctoral researcher at Brandeis University’s Computer Science Department, working on evolutionary computation and evolutionary robotics, where he led the Golem Project - creating the first physical artificial life forms. He was also a Lecturer at MIT’s Mechanical Engineering Department, where he taught design and conducted research in design automation. Before joining academia, Lipson spent several years as a research engineer in the mechanical, electronic and software industries.
